The Pressure Test ยท Episode 7

Is Psychological Safety Making Teams Weaker or Stronger?

Watch on YouTube โ†—

Psychological safety was never supposed to mean nobody is ever uncomfortable. Yet in plenty of teams that is exactly what it has become, and leaders now hesitate to call out poor performance at all. Paul and Kemina unpack where the idea went sideways, from new psychosocial risk laws in New South Wales to the misunderstandings that come with leading through a screen. Using Amy Edmondson's four zones, they make the case that the goal was never comfort. It's the learning zone, where high safety meets high accountability. And Kemina argues no policy gets a team there on its own if nobody understands what the nervous system is doing under pressure. So is psychological safety making teams weaker or stronger?
